P0101: Mass Air Flow (MAF) Circuit Range / Performance

The ECM compares actual MAF sensor frequency/voltage output against a calculated airflow model based on engine RPM, throttle position (TPS), and manifold absolute pressure (MAP). If MAF reading deviates by more than 15-20% from the expected airflow model, P0101 is set.

Can I use brake cleaner to clean my MAF sensor?

ABSOLUTELY NOT. Brake cleaner contains harsh chemicals (acetone, toluene) that dissolve the delicate plastic housing and strip the sensitive coating off the platinum sensing element. Use ONLY dedicated MAF sensor cleaner.
