P0455: Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (Gross Leak / Large Leak)
The EVAP system seals the fuel tank vapor space to capture hydrocarbons. During the EVAP leak monitor self-test, the ECM closes the EVAP canister vent valve (near the fuel tank) and opens the EVAP purge solenoid (on the engine intake). This pulls engine manifold vacuum on the fuel tank. If the fuel tank pressure sensor (FTP) detects that the vacuum fails to reach target threshold within a calibrated time (equivalent to a leak > 0.090 inch), P0455 is set.
