P0011: Camshaft Position 'A' Timing Over-Advanced (Bank 1)

The ECM regulates Variable Valve Timing (VVT) by pulsing the Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT / VVT) oil control solenoid, routing pressurized engine oil into the camshaft phaser chambers to advance or retard intake valve timing. Trouble code P0011 is set when the Bank 1 intake camshaft actual position remains more advanced than the ECM target position by more than 5–10 crankshaft degrees for longer than 5 seconds.

The VVT oil control solenoid is mounted on the front or top of the cylinder head near the intake camshaft. The camshaft phaser sprocket is mounted to the front of the intake camshaft inside the timing chain cover.
